Tried making my own fishing lures and a treble hook nearly took out my thumb

I was in my garage last Saturday pouring lead into a mold when the clamp slipped and sent hot metal spraying across my workbench. The hook flew off the bench and stuck right into the wooden handle of my pliers, about an inch from my hand. Has anyone else had close calls with homemade tackle gear?

Nearly took out your thumb" sounds like you're still got all ten digits though, so is it really that close?

@lee627 That's fair honestly. I came pretty close to losing the tip though, had to get four stitches and everything. Still got all ten so I guess I can't complain too much.
