Bought a $250 brick tongs setup after my back gave out on a two story job
My old boss laughed at guys who used anything but their hands, but after 3 weeks of limping around a job in Akron I spent $250 on a pair of brick tongs and they paid for themselves by lunch, so I'm curious if anyone else has switched to tools that old timers would call cheating.
The thing nobody talks about is that the old timers laughing are usually the same guys who end up with shot knees and hands that don't close all the way by 55. My uncle was that guy, wouldn't touch a lift assist for anything, and he's had both shoulders done twice now. The tools aren't cheating, they're just letting you stay in the trade longer instead of getting pushed out early. A guy who's still laying at 60 because he swallowed his pride at 40 is worth more than a guy who was tough for 15 years and then couldn't work at all.
