Just spent 4 hours fixing a wall I bricked in 45 minutes
Ngl I was trying to rush through a garden wall for a client in Austin last Thursday. I got the whole thing laid in under an hour but it was leaning so bad I couldn't even get a level on it. I ended up tearing half of it out and relaying those bricks one by one. Has anyone else had a job where the fixing took way longer than the building?

Just spent 4 hours fixing a wall I bricked in 45 minutes" sounds about right for this trade. Maybe the real lesson is that fast work just means you get to do it twice.

Oh man, I did the same thing with a retaining wall near my buddy's driveway last month. I was so proud of getting a 12-foot section up in like an hour, then the next day I noticed a big belly in the middle. I had to pull down three courses and redo them one by one, took me almost 6 hours total. It's like that saying about measuring twice but with bricks it's more like mortar once, weep twice.

Wait wait wait. You left a "big belly" in the wall overnight and just let it sit there? That's wild man. I can't believe you just walked away from a 12 foot retaining wall with a belly in it and went home for the day. I would have been laying in bed staring at the ceiling thinking about that wall bowing out. The fact that you had to take down three entire courses the next day makes my back hurt just reading this. Honestly that's a solid 6 hours of pure regret right there.
