PSA: I tried using a garden sprayer to wet bricks on a hot day in Atlanta and it saved my entire afternoon.

The mortar was setting way too fast in the 95-degree heat, so I filled a clean 2-gallon sprayer with water and gave each brick a quick mist right before laying it, which kept the bed joint workable and stopped the brick from sucking all the moisture out instantly. Has anyone else found a simple tool repurposed like this that saved a job?

I always thought you had to just work faster in the heat. My uncle's old tile sponge bucket was my go-to for years, but that sprayer trick is way smarter for bricks.

That Atlanta heat is no joke for any kind of outdoor work. I had a similar issue last summer trying to set some concrete stepping stones. The mix was drying out almost as fast as I could pour it. I ended up using an old plastic pump bottle, the kind for dish soap, filled with water to keep the area damp. It made all the difference between a proper set and a crumbly mess. Your sprayer idea is a smart upgrade for a bigger job like bricklaying.
