Shoutout to the corner block trick that saved my Saturday job
I was laying a garden wall near Pine Creek last weekend and kept fighting with my corners wobbling out of plumb. After about 4 tries I remembered an old timer telling me to butter the first block on both ends before the mortar sets. That single step kept the corner from shifting when I tapped it level. Has anyone else tried this or do you stick with clips?

Used the clips for years but tried buttering both ends on my last retaining wall and the difference was night and day. Hard to argue with results like that.

Admit I was skeptical but @oliver_anderson you convinced me to try it next time.
