That $20 trowel I scoffed at is saving my wrist right now

I always thought expensive trowels were a gimmick, you know? Bought a Marshalltown for $23 at a yard sale in Akron just to try it. After 3 days on a retaining wall job, my hand stopped cramping up by noon. The balance is just different, the handle doesn't slip when it gets sweaty. Has anyone else had a cheap tool wreck your day until you switched?

And nobody's talking about how a cheap trowel actually forces you to grip it harder than you need to, which just sends the strain right up your arm... the Marshalltown's handle shape lets you hold it looser while still keeping control. Once I stopped fighting my tool, my whole technique changed without me even trying.

Totally agree with that grip loosening thing. My hand went numb with cheap ones before I switched.
