TIL spending $400 on a laser level was the best money I wasted in 8 years

I bought a Boscht GLL 3-80 CG last spring for leveling footings and it's helped me save so much time. But honestly, I think the 3-beam models are overkill for most residential work, mine sits in the truck half the time. A basic single-line rotary would have done the same job for $150 less. Has anyone else found that fancier gear just collects dust?

Honestly "sits in the truck half the time" is way too generous for me. Mine probably lives in the case for three quarters of its life but man when you actually need it you feel like a genius for having it. Like yeah I blew a small fortune on a tool that mostly collects dust but that one time it saves me from a crooked shelf it's all worth it right? My wallet disagrees but my pride loves that thing.
