Wasted $600 on a fancy brick splitter that I barely use now
Bought a big electric splitter from a catalog thinking it'd speed up my cuts, but after 3 jobs I realized a good chisel and hammer does the same thing for most of my work. Anybody else regret a tool purchase that sounded better than it worked?

For some small stuff sure, but if you're splitting any kind of real brick or block over 6 inches that splitter saves your hand from shaking like a leaf after ten minutes. Spend the money and you'll appreciate it when you need it, but yeah 600 bucks on a catalog item without trying it first is rough. Keep it for the bigger jobs and just let the chisel handle the tiny stuff, no reason to write off the whole thing.

Wait 600 bucks for a brick splitter? I thought you were talking like 150, maybe 200 tops. That's wild, I'd rather just rent one for a weekend if I had a job that big.
