Burnt my cheap chili so bad I had to start over from scratch last night
I was multitasking between the stove and a work call and totally forgot about the pot until the smoke alarm went off. Ended up scraping the burnt bits and salvaging the beans and tomatoes for a quick skillet hash instead. Anyone else have a go-to backup move when a budget meal goes sideways?

Four bucks for a bag of pinto beans and I still managed to char them black last Tuesday when my kid started crying during dinner prep. I get the appeal of turning it into a hash but honestly that just sounds like you're eating burnt flavor with extra steps. A little scorching adds character but if you smoked the whole pot you probably should just toss it and grab some frozen pizza for the night instead of forcing a salvage.

Oh man, @anthonyhunt I feel that burnt bean pain on a spiritual level... I once tried to salvage a scorched chili by adding extra tomatoes and it just tasted like regret with chunks. The frozen pizza retreat is real, sometimes you just gotta wave the white flag and admit defeat before you're eating charcoal flavored anything.
