Found a farmers market that sells "ugly" produce for $1 a bag
I was walking through downtown Austin last Saturday and saw a stall called The Wonky Veg. They had a bin full of crooked carrots, lumpy tomatoes, and bell peppers with weird bumps. Everything was $1 per bag, no matter what was inside. I grabbed two bags and made a big pot of roasted veggie soup for dinner that night. Anybody got a favorite way to use up oddly shaped squash?

That bin always makes me wonder how much food we throw away just for being weird looking.

Did you catch that article a few weeks back about how grocery stores reject like a third of all produce just for looking off? It's insane when the taste is exactly the same. The crooked carrots and lumpy squash are usually sweeter too since they didn't get babied in perfect conditions. I hate thinking about all those misshapen peppers that just get plowed under.
