Got roasted for using too many canned veggies in my chili
My buddy Mike straight up told me my chili tasted like a tin can after our Sunday game night. He was right. I was dumping in canned corn and green beans just to stretch it out. Now I buy a $2 bag of frozen mixed vegetables and a can of cheap crushed tomatoes instead. Does anyone else have a friend who calls them out on their cooking shortcuts?

tell me about it man, I was the same way with my chili for years. I'd throw in whatever canned stuff was in the pantry just to make it go further, even tried canned potatoes once, it was bad. what actually helped me was swapping to a bag of frozen peppers and onions, and then just one can of diced tomatoes with green chiles for flavor. now my chili actually tastes like something I made instead of a can of soup someone heated up. frozen veggies are way cheaper than fresh and don't make everything taste like metal.

Canned potatoes, that's a crime against humanity right there.
