Just realized the $15 rotisserie chicken I swore by costs way more than a whole raw one
I used to grab that $15 rotisserie chicken from the store every Sunday because everyone says it's the best budget hack. Then I actually did the math on what I was getting: about 2 pounds of meat, and I was throwing away the bones and skin. Last month I bought a $5 raw chicken at the market, roasted it myself, and got 3 pounds of meat plus enough bones for 6 cups of stock. That's roughly $1.67 per pound versus $7.50 for the cooked one, and I'm not even counting the stock. Am I the only one who fell for this or did everyone else already know?
