Question about using dried beans instead of canned

I switched about 3 months ago after seeing a bag of black beans for $1.50, and now I just soak them overnight. Has anyone else found a good way to cut the soak time if you forget to plan ahead?

Honestly, I've had the opposite experience with quick soaking. When I boil my black beans for a full five minutes then let them sit for an hour off the heat, they turn out just as creamy as the overnight ones for me. Maybe it's the longer boil time that does it.

Ever try the quick soak where you boil them for a minute then let them sit for an hour? It's a decent fix when you're in a pinch, but the texture never seems quite as good as a real overnight soak, you know?

Oh man, I forget to soak beans all the time. My go-to quick fix is to cover them with plenty of water, bring it to a hard boil for two full minutes, then kill the heat and put a lid on. Let them sit in that hot water for an hour. Drain that, then cook them like normal. It's not perfect but it gets you fed without waiting a whole day.
