Bought one two years ago and felt the same way at first. What made it click for me was buying meat in bulk when it goes on sale, portioning it out, and sealing it flat so it stacks in the freezer. Now I grab a pack of chicken thighs, thaw it overnight, and dinner is basically done. The bags are the hidden cost though, so grab the generic rolls instead of name brand ones. If you only seal leftovers once a week it probably won't pay off, but if you shop sales and freeze a lot, it earns its keep.
