Traded frozen pizza for homemade lentil soup and saved $8 this week
I was this close to grabbing a $5 frozen pizza at Aldi on Tuesday but decided to make lentil soup with just $2 worth of dried lentils and some old carrots. It made 4 big servings and actually tasted better than the pizza. Has anyone else switched to soup to stretch their grocery money?

I used to roll my eyes at soup-for-budget stuff (felt too much like a boring "depression meal" thing) but your $2 vs $5 example really makes me rethink that.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I tried to "save money" by buying the store brand tomato soup and it was basically just sweet ketchup water. Never again. Have you ever had one of those meals that just totally backfired on you?
