Unpopular opinion: My aunt's tip to add a tablespoon of vinegar to cheap ground beef actually makes it taste worse
She swore it tenderizes the meat and cuts the grease, but after trying it three times last month, I ended up with a weird sour flavor that ruined the taco meat, and now I'm back to just draining the fat and seasoning heavy, has anyone else had this backfire?

Oh man, that's rough. My grandma used to swear by adding a splash of pickle juice to meatloaf and I tried it once and it just tasted like a sad dill pickle had died in there. I mean, I get the idea of acid tenderizing meat in theory but in practice you just end up with vinegar-flavored taco meat and that's no good for anyone. Maybe your aunt was thinking of something like a marinade where you rinse it off but she forgot to mention that part? Either way, I'd rather just do the extra draining and seasoning too, no shame in that.

Wait, hold up. Your grandma actually put pickle juice in meatloaf? That's wild. I've heard of people adding it to bloody marys but never to a meatloaf.
