Booked a hostel 8 blocks from the beach for 3 nights, turns out it was 8 blocks of pure hill

I kept wondering why my calves were killing me after every trip to the sand. Finally a guy at the front desk laughed and said, 'You know there's a free shuttle that runs every 20 minutes, right?' I'd been paying for bus tokens and hiking my gear up that slope the whole time. Has anyone else missed an obvious free option like that?
