Debate: Used to book hostels through aggregators, now I call them directly - does the savings justify the hassle?

How much time are you actually spending on the phone vs just clicking a button online? I get that booking direct can save a few bucks sometimes, but you're also dealing with hold music, limited staff hours, and the risk of a language barrier if you're calling internationally. Plus, aggregators usually have a cancellation policy that's clear and easy to manage from your phone. If you're traveling somewhere with spotty cell service or a short window to lock in a room, that hassle can cost you more in stress than you save in cash. What's your worst case scenario with direct booking so far?

Honestly, is waiting on hold really that traumatic?
