Hot take: Booking a multi-city flight to save cash is never worth the hassle

Spent 4 hours yesterday trying to piece together a London-Paris-Berlin trip for under $300, but the layovers and separate airport transfers killed the deal. Anyone found a reliable site or trick that actually makes this work?
