Miso paste in my carry-on caused a 40 minute security stop in Denver

The TSA guy kept pulling out my toiletry bag and asking why I had this brown sludge, I had to explain it was soup base for cheap hostel meals about four times. Has anyone else gotten flagged for something weirdly food related that saved them money on trips?
