PSA: Free city walking tours saved me $45 in Paris last month

I signed up for one of those free 'pay what you want' walking tours in Paris thinking it'd be a cheap intro, and the guide knew every shortcut to cheap bakeries and metro hacks I never would've found alone. Has anyone else had luck with these in other cities, or did I just get lucky?

$45 is really not that serious though.

lol $45 "not that serious" says the person who probably drops that on avocado toast and calls it a day. Meanwhile @the_betty some of us are out here trying to budget for actual life stuff like rent and groceries. $45 is a whole tank of gas or a week of lunches for me, so yeah it's kind of a big deal when someone's trying to charge that for something that could be free with a little effort. But hey if you got money to burn then go off I guess, just don't act like we're all living on the same budget.
