TIL that some hostels in Europe charge extra for sheets
I found out the hard way in Berlin last month. Booked a bed for 15 euros a night, but when I got there they wanted 5 more euros for a clean sheet set. I always thought that was just part of the price. Has anyone else run into this? I'm trying to figure out if I should start packing a sleep sack.

Yeah, that Berlin hostel got me too. I bought a cheap silk sleep sack at a camping store near Alexanderplatz for about 12 euros. It packs down to nothing and I've used it in a dozen places since. Saved me money and the weird feeling of not knowing who used those sheets last.

Totally stealing that idea from @cora177 for my next trip.

That's smart for more than just hostels. Some budget airlines have really scratchy blankets you have to pay for. Having your own layer makes those red-eye flights way more bearable. It just makes sense for any kind of cheap travel.
