Took 40 hours of bus rides across Peru before I finally counted them
I didn't realize how much time I was burning until I added up every ticket stub from my 3 month trip last spring. It came to 40 hours total on overnight buses between Lima, Cusco, and Arequipa. That's nearly two full days just sitting on a moving bunk bed. The crazy part is I saved maybe $300 compared to flying, but I lost a whole day of exploring in each city because I was either sleeping off the ride or waiting for a bus that left late. My back still remembers the last one too, the seat reclined maybe 3 inches and the guy behind me snored like a chainsaw. Worth it for the mountain views at sunrise though, especially that stretch past the Andes. Has anyone else added up their total travel time and felt weirdly proud or totally ripped off?
