Can we talk about the $60 I burned on a budgeting app that did nothing my notes app couldn't do
I signed up for a paid budgeting app back in January thinking it would finally fix my money habits, and I paid $5 a month for a full year, so $60 gone. The thing kept asking me to link my bank accounts, and when I did, it took three days to sync and still showed my paycheck from two weeks earlier as pending. I ended up still writing everything in a cheap notebook I got from the drugstore for $1.50, and honestly the notebook was faster. Cancelled it in March and put that $5 toward my grocery envelope instead, which is the only change that actually stuck. If you're eyeballing a subscription for this stuff, check if a plain spreadsheet or a $2 notebook does the same job first. Anyone here actually had a paid app that beat pen and paper, or is it all just fancy charts?
Figured this out the hard way too, except mine was a $9 a month one I forgot about for five months. My notes app plus a shared grocery list with my husband does more than that thing ever did. Save the money and grab a notebook you actually like looking at.
