Just realized I was paying $40 a month for a storage unit holding maybe $60 of stuff
Did the math last weekend on that unit in Tacoma I've had since 2021 and it's cost me over $1,900 to store an old treadmill and some boxes I haven't opened once. What finally tipped me off was the lady at the front desk asking if I wanted to switch to autopay, and I thought, wait, why am I still doing this at all? Curious how you all decide what's actually worth paying to keep.
Man, that front desk moment hits close to home, I did the same thing with a unit in my old town for almost three years. For me the cutoff was whether I could name what was in the box without opening it, and if I couldn't, it wasn't worth another month. It stings to pay that much for stuff you forgot you had, but at least you caught it now instead of at year five.
