My car needed a new battery and I almost panicked about the cost
Last Tuesday, my car wouldn't start before work. I called a shop and they quoted me $220 for a new battery and install. I remembered a friend telling me about a place that tests batteries for free, so I got a jump and drove there. They tested it and said it just needed a full charge, which they did for $15. I saved over $200 by not just saying yes to the first fix. Has anyone else had a shop try to sell you something you didn't actually need?

Ever wonder how many people just pay up without getting that second look?

Got a quote for a full brake job once that made my eyes water. Took it for a second opinion and the guy just laughed, said my pads were barely half worn. Some shops really do treat the "check engine" light like a blank check.
