My coworker Dave swore the 50/30/20 budget rule was a scam

Last year when I started trying to save, Dave at my job kept saying the 50/30/20 thing was for people with no real bills. I tried it anyway with my $3,200 monthly take home. Six months later I had $600 more in savings than I'd ever kept before. Has anyone else had a budget method work way better than people warned you it would?

The whole "Used to call it fake, now I swear by it" thing really hit me. I actually read a study just last week that said more people are changing their minds about things like supplements and alternative treatments because of real results they see in their own lives. It's not just hype anymore, you know? My neighbor swore up and down she'd never touch magnesium powder but now she takes it every night for sleep and wont shut up about it.
