My grocery bill in Denver jumped $50 last month and I finally found the leak

I was checking my bank account and saw my usual grocery store charge was way up. Turns out, I'd been grabbing a fancy coffee drink and a snack every single time I went in for milk or bread. I started making a strict list and only going once a week, which cut that extra spending right out. Has anyone else had a small habit that quietly wrecked their food budget?

Oh man, that sneaky coffee and snack combo is a total budget killer. It feels so small in the moment but adds up so fast. My weakness was those fancy chilled drinks by the checkout, grabbing one every trip like it was nothing. Making a list and sticking to it was the only thing that worked for me too.

I get what you mean about small buys adding up, west.wendy, but I don't see my daily coffee as a budget killer. It's a small treat that keeps me from bigger splurges. For me, cutting out that one little thing makes the whole day feel like a grind. I'd rather skip a takeout meal later in the week than give up my morning stop. That drink is my moment of calm, and the cost feels worth it for that.
