My sister called my spreadsheet 'a museum', so I cut it down to one page

I used to track 14 categories in our grocery budget, down to each pack of gum. My sister saw it last month and said it looked like a museum, lots to look at but no one wants to live there. I trimmed it to 5 categories and one running total. We are 3 weeks in and I actually check it more often now, plus I caught a $12 overage on snacks before it got worse. Has anyone else had to shrink their tracking to make it stick?

Isn't it funny how the more we try to control something, the less we actually stick with it? Same thing happens with my fitness tracker, I had every step and calorie logged for like two weeks and then ditched the whole app, but now I just check my daily step count and that's it. Seems like the sweet spot is finding the smallest bit of info that actually changes your behavior, not the biggest pile of data you can hoard.
