Noticed my grocery bill dropped $40 a week after I started shopping at Aldi

I was spending around $120 a week at Kroger for just myself. A coworker kept telling me to try Aldi so I finally did 3 weeks ago. Same basic stuff like eggs, milk, bread, and chicken but I walked out paying $80. The trick is you have to bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart. I still go to Kroger for a few specific things but the bulk of my shopping is at Aldi now. Has anyone else seen big savings just by switching where you buy your staples?

Thought I'd never leave Publix, but my first Aldi trip made me a believer. The same cart of basics cost me almost $30 less and I didn't have to hunt for any deals. Now I get weekly staples there and only hit my old store for specialty stuff.

Wait, you mean you were paying $30 more for the same stuff at Publix the whole time and just didn't know it? That's wild to me because I always figured you were paying for the nicer store experience, not a giant markup on basic groceries. I guess those little savings really add up when you aren't coupon clipping.

Oh man, my roommate tried Aldi and accidentally bought a whole thing of gummy bears thinking it was one bag.
