Rant: dropped $80 on a chest freezer for batch cooking or just kept using my tiny fridge shelf
Went with the freezer 4 months back and now I cook 12 meals on Sunday instead of grabbing $14 takeout 3 nights a week. Which side are you on, buy the freezer or work with what your kitchen already has?
But you spent $80 and four months of your Sundays to get there. Add up the time you spend cooking all those meals and the freezer, and your $14 takeout starts looking pretty good. I get the math on paper, but three nights of takeout is $42 a week, so sure, you save money eventually. What people never count is the foil pans, the freezer bags, the extra gas or electric, and the Sunday you gave up. If your kitchen works fine with the shelf you have, use the shelf. A freezer is just a box that lets you put off cooking, and now you have to cook twice as much to fill it.
