Serious question, is putting hobby cash before the electric bill a real budgeting win?

I pay my model kit fund first each month, and it forces me to find clever ways to cover the power cost.

Hell yeah! That's a legit strategy. I put my guitar pedal money aside first every month. Then I deal with the rent. It forces me to skip dumb buys like takeout. My hobby keeps me sane so it's a priority. Budgeting win for sure.

Honestly that makes total sense to me. Paying yourself first for the stuff that keeps you going is smart. The rest just sort of figures itself out after that.

Lmao your landlord would have a heart attack if they saw this budget plan. "Sorry the rent's late, but my tone has never been better." It's the kind of financial advice that only makes sense after 2am. Gotta respect the grind for new gear though, even if it means surviving on ramen. Just don't tell your bank account I said that.
