The envelope trick that killed my eating-out habit in 60 days
Used to drop $300 a month on fast food and coffee runs without thinking, but since January I pull out $120 cash every Monday and split it into three envelopes labeled breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When an envelope's empty, that meal type is done for the week, has anyone else tried a cash-only rule and actually stuck with it?

the real sneaky part is that cash makes you feel the loss physically, like handing over a twenty for a sad sandwich actually hurts in a way swiping a card never does. i did this for two weeks and realized i was skipping breakfast on purpose just to save the envelope for a nicer dinner, which totally flipped my eating schedule upside down. then i started putting the leftover cash in a jar at the end of the week and that little pile of ones and fives became its own weird motivator. the part nobody talks about is that it trains you to hate the transaction itself, not just the spending, so even when you have money later you still hesitate. that hesitation is basically the whole game.
