Used to grab lunch near my office in Denver every day, now I bring 4 days of leftovers
When I finally added up my food spending for March it was $310 just on takeout near the 16th Street Mall, and I almost fell out of my chair. Now I cook a big batch on Sunday and bring it in, but does anyone have good ideas for meals that don't get sad by Thursday?
Have you tried freezing half of what you cook on Sunday and pulling it out Wednesday night? I read somewhere that the trick with batch cooking is to stop fighting the fact that food changes texture by day four. Things like chili, curry, and lentil soup actually taste better later, but anything with rice or pasta gets weird, so I keep those separate and mix them in fresh. That $310 number is rough though, Denver takeout prices are no joke.
