A reader told me my weekly spread was 'too dense', and she was right

I've been bullet journaling for about 3 years now, and I always packed every single day with tasks, habit trackers, and little doodles. Last month, a friend of mine who also journals glanced at my weekly spread and said, 'This looks like a tax form, not a planning tool.' At first I was annoyed (you know, the usual defensive thing), but then I actually looked at it and realized she had a point. I was spending 20 minutes every Sunday filling in all these tiny boxes, and then I'd barely use half of them by Friday. So I stripped it down to just three columns: top 3 tasks, appointments, and a small notes section. Now my Sunday setup takes maybe 8 minutes, and I actually find myself flipping back to review what I did instead of avoiding the page. Has anyone else had to simplify their layout after someone pointed out the obvious? How much space do you leave blank on purpose?

That same thing happened to me with my grocery list, of all things. I had this color coded system with categories and little checkboxes for every aisle, and it took me an hour to set up each week. My daughter took one look and asked why I needed a spreadsheet to buy milk, so now I just use a plain index card with a pen and it works better.
