My $40 fountain pen purchase turned my journal from a chore into a joy

I bought a basic Lamy Safari after seeing so many bullet journal posts about them. At first I thought it was a silly amount to spend on a pen. But writing with it feels so smooth that I actually look forward to filling out my daily log now. It makes my handwriting look nicer without me trying. Has anyone else found a tool that changed how they feel about the actual writing part?

Got a fountain pen for signing contracts. Started writing personal notes with it. Now my grocery lists look like important documents.

The thing with gel pens is they're smooth but the ink sits on top of the paper, doesn't soak in like fountain pen ink does. Fountain pens actually bond with the fibers so it's not gonna smudge when you handle the list later. You get that different look depending on your writing speed and angle too, gel pens are just one flat line no matter what.
