My wife said to just use a regular pen for my weekly spreads

I was using a fancy fountain pen for everything, but she pointed out I was spending more time cleaning it than writing. After switching to a basic Pilot G2, I've actually filled out my dailies for a full month straight. Anyone else find that simpler tools work better for keeping up with their journal?

Ever think the fancy pen was making your journal feel like a chore instead of a quick habit? The easier it is to start, the more likely you are to actually do it. My nice pens just made me procrastinate.

Wait you actually had nice pens and didn't use them? That's wild to me... I would be so excited to write with a good pen, it makes the whole thing feel special. My cheap one skips and it drives me crazy, makes me want to stop writing. I saved up for a smooth one and now I look for reasons to write stuff down. Maybe you just had the wrong kind of nice pen?

My grandma gave me a Montblanc pen for graduation ten years ago and it's still in the box. The idea that a pen changes your whole writing habit feels overblown. It's just a tool, not a magic wand. If you want to write, you'll do it with a chewed up Bic. If you don't, a gold plated pen won't fix that. People put way too much weight on gear instead of just doing the thing.
