PSA: My neighbor's glitter sticker gifts are overwhelming my simple bullet journal...
I have this neighbor who is really sweet... but she spotted my bullet journal and now thinks it needs more flair. Every few days, she leaves a bag of sparkly stickers or cartoon decals at my door. I prefer my pages clean with just my daily lists and quick notes... so all this extra stuff feels like clutter. It's getting tricky because I appreciate her kindness but don't want the supplies. How do you explain your bullet journal style to folks who don't get it? I considered leaving a note, but that might seem cold. Any gentle ways to say I like my journal plain without upsetting her?

Honestly just show her a page next time she brings it up. Like invite her for coffee and casually flip through your journal so she sees the clean lists in action. Sweet but clueless people sometimes need a visual. You can say something like "I'm a creature of habit, my brain just works better with all this white space." She'll probably get it without you having to directly reject her gifts.

Bullet journals were originally designed for productivity, not arts and crafts. Your neighbor might not know that some of us prefer function over glitter. Maybe show her a page of your clean lists to clue her in.

Claiming bullet journals have one true purpose misses the whole point. The whole beauty of a blank notebook is that you make it work for YOUR brain, whether that's clean lists or colorful art. For a lot of people, taking the time to decorate a page IS the function, because it makes them actually want to open the thing and use it. Who cares if someone finds function in glitter? The original design is just a starting point, not a strict rule. Gatekeeping how people organize their own lives is a pretty weird hill to die on.
