Stumbled on a cheap DIY book spine for my daily log

I kept losing track of my weekly spreads because my notebook lays flat and pages get mixed up. Tried folding a paperclip into a spine marker and it actually holds my place without damaging the paper. Anyone else use random stuff around the house as journal guides?

Tried using a binder clip as a page anchor once, worked pretty well.

I tried a paperclip once and it tore a tiny hole in my page. Learned my lesson quick. Now I just use a piece of yarn or string tucked into the spine. Works perfect and costs nothing. My grandma taught me that trick actually. She used to save all her bits of ribbon for marking pages in her cookbooks.
