Trying to make a custom yearly calendar spread took me three hours
I wanted a full year calendar for my new journal but with extra space for notes next to each month. I thought it would be simple, just drawing 12 boxes. The problem was getting the spacing right so the whole thing fit on two pages. I must have erased and redrawn the grid five times. My ruler kept slipping, and I messed up the spacing for July and August twice. I finally got it done, but it took the whole afternoon. I used a 0.3 mm pen for the final lines and it looks clean now. Has anyone found a faster way to do this without using a pre-printed insert?

Three hours on a calendar spread... that takes me back. I once spent a whole evening trying to get a simple weekly layout just right. I was so focused on the line spacing being perfect that I didn't notice I'd written the days of the week out of order until I'd inked it. Had to turn that page into a collage to hide it. The struggle is real when you're fighting with a ruler.

Ugh, I feel that in my soul. I started using a pencil to lightly grid everything out first, even for simple boxes. That way I can catch the stupid stuff, like putting Wednesday before Tuesday, before committing with ink. A clear plastic ruler also saved me, because I can see the page lines underneath and line things up perfectly without guessing.
