Unpopular opinion: Minimalist bullet journals aren't always better than messy ones
I've been doing this for about 3 years, and last month I tried to switch to a super clean layout with just dates and tasks... but I missed my doodles and random notes. Anyone else find that the simpler spreads actually make you less likely to keep up with it over time?

Super clean layout" killed my habit too, I added back one doodle per page and it fixed everything.

The clean layouts actually make me check in more often because there's less noise to sort through. My messy pages got too cluttered with random thoughts and I would skip days because the whole thing felt overwhelming to look at. A minimalist setup helps me focus on what actually needs to get done instead of spending time decorating. Different people need different systems, but a stripped down book keeps me honest about my tasks.
