Why does every spread need a 'theme' these days?

I saw a post last week where someone spent 3 hours drawing watercolor mountains for a weekly layout, and I just don't get it. My bujo from March has plain black lines and a pen I grabbed from my desk drawer, and it works fine for tracking my shifts at the diner. Is the aesthetic really the point for folks, or am I missing something about why the decorating matters so much?
