My band saw blade snapped right in the middle of a big pork shoulder order
It happened yesterday morning around 10 AM, right when I was breaking down a 40-pound case. The blade just went 'ping' and the whole thing stopped dead. I had to finish the whole order with my breaking knife, which took forever and my hand is still sore. Anyone have a good trick for spotting a blade that's about to go, or is it just one of those things that happens?

Our old Hobart blade sings a high C before it snaps.

Disagree completely. That sound means it's already stressed and about to fail. You're just hearing the metal give up right before it goes. Honestly, it's a warning sign, not a cool feature.

That singing blade thing gets blown out of proportion. Metal makes noise under tension, it doesn't mean it's about to snap right then. You could run a blade that sings for weeks before anything happens.
