PSA: Overheard a guy at the meat distributor say he hasn't seen a full beef hanging rail in 10 years
He was talking to the manager at my local supply house in Spokane about how everything comes in boxed now. It made me think about when I started, and we'd break down whole sides on the block every morning. Now it's all about opening cryovac bags. Anyone else miss working with the whole animal like that?

Yeah, that's a real loss of a skill. Feels more like assembly now.

My 3D printing class got me back into it.

Oh man, I totally get that. I mean, I felt the same way for a while, like @mary_kelly said, just putting parts together. What clicked for me was forcing myself to design one dumb little thing from scratch every week. Just a phone stand or a cable clip, nothing big. It made the printer feel like a tool for my own ideas again, not just a kit. That shift back to creating, even simple stuff, made all the difference for me.
