Am I the only one who thinks dowels are way better than pocket screws?

I built two identical spice racks last week, one with pocket holes and one with dowels. The dowel joint held up way better when I torqued it on the bench, no wobble at all. Anyone else ditch pocket screws for certain builds?

You know, I was all about pocket screws for years. Thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. But you got me rethinking that whole "dowel joint held up way better" thing because last month I tried both on a set of oak shelves and the dowel side didn't budge while the pocket screw side got wobbly after a few weeks. I guess there's something to be said for the old school methods, even if they take a little more setup time.

Buddy of mine said the same thing about his pocket screw shelf collapsing, @gibson.robert.
