Can we talk about how plywood quality has tanked in just 5 years?

I redid a kitchen in Portland back in 2019 and the birch ply I used was solid, hardly any voids. Fast forward to last month, same supplier, same brand, and I had to toss half the sheets because the cores were full of gaps and patches. Did the mills change something during COVID or are they just cheaping out across the board? Has anyone else noticed this shift?

Has anyone else noticed the veneer getting thinner too? I peeled a sheet from last year's batch and it felt like paper compared to what I was using in 2020. They must have shaved down the outer layers to cut costs without raising the price.

Is daniel214 the one holding up a magnifying glass to my cabinets right now?
