Clients keep asking for soft-close hinges and I wish they wouldn't

Last month in Columbus, I installed a set of cheap soft-close hinges a homeowner supplied, and two of them failed within a week. I know the good brands cost more, but I've seen too many people cut corners on this and blame the cabinetmaker. Has anyone found a way to talk clients out of bargain hinges without sounding like you're upselling?
