Finally caved and bought a $200 digital angle gauge for my miter saw. It seemed like a luxury, but it cut my setup time in half on a big crown molding job last week.

Two hundred bucks just to set an angle faster? My old school protractor works fine, it just takes an extra minute. Crown molding is tricky but that's a steep price for a little time saved.

Right there with you @oliver_fisher, my cheap plastic angle finder has never let me down.

Used to swear by my old speed square until I tried a digital protractor on a crown moulding job last month. @milacarr you're right that the cheap plastic ones get the job done, but having the angle readout instantly saved me from re-cutting three pieces. Definitely changed my mind on the whole thing.
