I started skipping the slow-speed pass on dados and my joints are better

For two years I did the whole slow spin-up before every cut because that's how I learned it. Last month I just slammed the blade in at full speed on some red oak and got noticeably cleaner edges with zero burn. Has anyone else dropped that habit and seen better results, or am I just getting lucky with this batch of wood?
