I thought the old guy at the lumber yard in Dayton was full of it about acclimating stock
Bought 40 board feet of hard maple for a set of kitchen doors back in April and the guy loading my truck kept saying to let it sit in the shop a week before milling. I nodded and figured he just wanted to hear himself talk, so I cut into it the next morning. Every door panel I glued up bowed within three days, and I ate $60 in wasted stock plus a weekend redoing it. The second batch sat stacked with stickers in my shop for eight days, right next to the jointer, not even checking moisture, and every stile stayed dead flat. Now I want to know how long you all let stock sit before milling, and does it change if the wood came off a covered truck in the rain?
